Dear Silica Community,
It's been one month since Silica was released on Early Access on Steam, and we couldn't be more thankful for your support and your feedback. There's still one year of Early Access to go, and our one-man army Dram has laid out the roadmap for what you can expect to see in the coming months.
To sum it up:
Air units – for both humans and aliens, should be coming out in a major update within the next couple of months.
During this time, Dram will focus on communication between players – VOIP and pinging for both Commanders and infantry.
The Centauri will also receive major changes – with their unique structures and units being added to the game.
FPS commanding will also come in a future update, where infantry soldiers can command AI units that are assigned to them.
Dedicated servers will also be added during the one year in Early Access
In the remaining time, matchmaking will be a priority, as well as ranked play.
The AI will receive more tweaks and optimizations, and more maps should be added during this time.
Onboarding will also be a thing to look into, with tutorial missions being available to new players to make it easier for them to get into the game.
Last but not least, localization and support for user-created content will be the focus in the remaining months leading up to 1.0.
And that's it guys. This is what's in store for the remainder of the Early Access. We'll do our best to push out weekly minor updates to address some performance issues and quality-of-life changes.
Keep the feedback coming, and we'll be happy to answer your questions on our socials.
